So you support the troops serving in Iraq. If your not one of those with a loved one serving and you want to do more than just mouth the words I have a great way to really contribute to the families that are serving. I sponsored a family website at www.websitesforheroes.com . These guys have the right idea for helping military families stay connected to their loved ones overseas. And given the fact that most of these enlisted folks can barely afford to live on military pay, this gift makes a lot of sense.

You say can barely afford... It costs $170 for them to setup a way to communicate through a personal website. The sample website I saw was all in flash, Can they even save the pictures there family has uploaded? I see some good things, but I don't think anyone should have to pay for a website or a way to communicate with there family.

I'm sure this was set-up with good intentions, but I think it's unneccesary. If a soldier can get access to a computer they can do the things mentioned with their own email addresses. Guess I'm just missing the point, but I certainly wouldn't spend $170.00 for a website.

I'm with Amie...it seems like an awful lot of money just to have access to a website.

I'm sure more people will be using MyArmedForces for this type of communication.

I am a Family Readiness Group Leader of the 310th MP BN. My job is to support the families, friends and the soldier wether or not they are deployed. You don't need money to join your soldier's Family Readiness Group volunteers You can become friends with the family's and friends of your soldiers unit. There are so many projects we have
going on during the year and you can join in on the planning etc. There is also Military One Source that is available
24/7 for any situation that might come up.
I will be around if you need any information.
