| | I remember like it was yesterday. I was a senior in high school in my first period class and I didn't watch any news before school and by the time I got to class everyone was talking about a plane hitting the WTC and about 10-15minutes into class we heard that another plane just hit the other tower. For the rest of the class we just sat around the radio to get the latest reports. It is definitely a day that I will never forget.

| | I was a Freshmen in high school and I was playing some stupid game in gym. We didn't hear the intercome, but there was so much commossion in the hallway. Someone came in because they had to use the bathroom and started telling us about what they heard. I didn't pay much attention cuz I thought is was some rumor. Then I want to lunch and everyone was talking about it and I couldn't believe it. A teacher of mine was flipping out because his wife was near the World Trade Center at the time, but we found out she was Ok. I got home and watched the news with my best friend and I could not believe my eyes. I thought it was a bad dream. It's still very hard to swallow.

| | I was 8 months pregnant and working up in orange county. George was driving me to work that morning because back then we still had one vehicle. I remember going through the pulgas gate and hearing the news on the radio about the first building being hit, then the second..... It was so unreal and hard to absorb all at that moment. I remember asking George if we were going to war and he said no... when I got to work everyone was crying and we heard about the 3rd plane then there were reports of possible other planes being hijacked to California. Everyone was panicked and worried and mourning for the innocent lives lost that morning. At lunch the church next door had a prayer gathering and most of our building went over to pray.... We heard about the people who were being suffocated by the debris of the collapsed buildings and the ones who jumped to their death. The rest of the day is a blur to me. I know we all came home and watched the events unfold over and over again on TV. George said we would be going to war by this time and there was a worry of what the future had held for us... 5 long years later were still here, we've watched friends, and neighbors burry their loved ones as im sure all of you have watched someone you were close to bury their loved ones if not you yourself. I am leaving this home of ours of 12 years in a week and a half and for the first time in my life since adolescence I will be joining my fellow American neighbors in the civilian sector. I can say with all my heart that I will never forget those who have passed away, the funerals I've attended and the memory's I have collected over the last 16 years. I am blessed to still have my husband and family together and will never take them for granted. If i've learned anything these last 5 years its that life is fragile, and precious. And truly can be gone the next day.

| | I was just leaving the house with my husband to go to th hospital ofr some minor surgery and saw it on the TV.
We arrived at the hospital and everything was cancelled because the thought they might need the hospital facilities for wounded. I live 35 miles from the Trade Center.
All of our fireman, left within the hour to get there to help in whatever was needed. It was like a bad dream. Poeple wandered around in a daze, worrying about the family member that worked in the the Trade Center or on the vacinity. We could smell the smoke but couldn't see it.. I called Fort Totten, our Army Reserve Base to offer any help they might need.. After that we just sat in front of the TV in a daze.

| | My dad was put into the hospital the night before and we didn't know if he was going to make it through the day or not. My husband was in Korea so my son and I were driving to St. Louis from AR when I heard it on the news. By the time I got to the hospital it was all over the t.v. It was awful and sitting in the waiting room there is nothing else to do except watch t.v. I'll never forget where we were at that day and those people are still in my prayers. :(

| | I was at work. At the time, I was a server in the restaurant of a hotel by the airport. I was waiting on Pete Rose, the former baseball player, and was debating with a cook whether to get his autograph for him or not, and someone from room service ran in the kitchen and said that a plane hit one of the Twin Towers. All of us in the restaurant went into the adjoining bar and turned all the TV's on to see what was happening. At that point no one knew it was an attack, we thought that it was just an accident. Then we saw the second plane hit and all hell broke loose.
I remember feeling scared not knowing where the other planes were, wondering where they were going to crash, IF they were going to crash, praying that they wouldn't. My mom worked in Center City Philly and they were evacuating all high rise buildings, so I was afraid something would happen to her, or to my son who was in daycare. Most of all I felt overwhelmed, like an overload of emotion. I was pissed that someone did it, I was devastated because I knew people were dying, WATCHING them die. I worked 18 hours that day. Just trying to make the people who were stranded comfortable. Trying to comfort those who were hysterical because they had friends and family in NYC, rejoiced with them when they received that "I'm ok" phone call.
It was the most horrible day of my life. However, I do remember the camaraderie of all of us at the hotel. Nothing mattered. Perfect strangers would hold each other trying to comfort, there were no angry words to each other. Everyone just came together and held each other up, it was a comforting feeling.

| | WOW, I'll never forget! I was in the 9th grade in high school. In the middle of class, the whole school was told to turn to T.V on ( every class had a T.V.). I didn't understand what was going on. All I seen was two building with smoke coming from them. Then it hit me...it was the World Trade Center! Not even 5 mins later, just about everyone in class was crying and holding each other. It was probably one of the saddest days in my life.
