I was home with my son, I still remember that day like it was yesterday. All the horrific images on the screen and just being in disbelieve. Sept. 11 will always be a huge part of my life, and the impact it left.

Ton of hugs Mel

I can remember very clearly. I was at work (at a jr high school) and I walked in to the media center just as the 2nd plane hit the WTC. I went back to my classroom and told my classroom teacher (I am the aide) quietly and the first thing she asked was "was it a terrorist attack" I was dumbfounded because that did not even come into my mind. My husband went off inactive reserve (Marine) status shortly there after and was deployed in 2004 with the Army National Guard. However as we all know Once a Marine always a Marine.

i was at work outside on a smoke break, when i fellow co-worker came out and told us that nyc had been attacked, so we rushed back inside to the breakroom to watch the news, by that time the pentagon was hit, everyone in the city of novi had got their mail late that day, and our dumb ass supervisor had the nerve to tell us to watch out for low flying planes, what an asshole!!! half the people who work for the post office are vets, we did not take those remarks to well, 2 days later i re-up in the reserves

Ew...what a bad memory for me. I was living with my abusive (now ex) boyfriend and I was just about to get up to get ready for work when he burst in the bedroom talking to me about this. I was on the verge of hating him so I paid no attention at first.

I was stationed at Fort Meade in MD. I walked into the Ed center and noticed everyone was watching the tv and when i looked up the second plane hit. After that the entire base went crazy for several reasons. National securtiy agency is located there for one. Every person who wasn't mission essential went to help the MP's. 18 hour day/night roving guard shift, Security checks and a M16 with 20 live rounds. ,

I was working at OMS#3 North Riverside Armory in Illinois, i told my supervisor at break time that planes hit WTC. He thought i was joking as he was watching a second aircraft hit. Then we knew something was wrong. Pentagon, washington D.C. memorable moment for me. NEver forget as long as live. Its the reason why I'm deployed so much.

i was on a 15 drive from chicago to north carolina right after ait and was going to my first duty station. my first time driving myself for more than 3 hours. i was already a nervous reck and scared not know what was going to happen to me and thinking if i had mad the right decision. when i got to fort bragg, it took me about 5 hours to get to the gate and when i got there they made me take everything out of my car to do inspection. i thought i was going to get arrested or something the way they were checking my things, i was just glad to know that i was going to stay on post if the lines were going to be for ever to get on post. when i got to replacement, they told me my orders were deleted and i was going to a field unit because we were going to war. i didn't know what to think. i was so scared, i tried to call my mother to say goodbye but the lines were all busy. i couldn't get ahold of anybody for a couple of days, my mother was a mess till she finally heard from me. didn't go anywhere till 2003 but we did push a lot of other units out. saddiest day ever, a lot of americans were lost that day, and i would like to think that they are in a better place. their memories will live one.

I also was at work when one of the ladies came into my office and notified me a plane hit the first tower. We turned on the tv just prior to the second one hitting. We just kind of stood there in silence watching the news in shock.

I will never forget that day. It changed the future of so many lives. I was in my first semester of college and didn't have any classes that day, so I slept in. My mom rushed into my room and woke me up... she turned on the tv and told me there was something going on I HAD TO SEE. A few minutes later the second building was hit. We sat there together in shock and horror... frozen... as the buildings crumbled.
I couldn't tear myself away from the tv for the rest of the night. The next day I gathered with friends and strangers on campus for a candlelight vigil. Everyone cried and hugged and supported each other even though they were strangers. It was so sad that something so horrible had to happen to make people see how important life and love really are and to bring us together as a nation.
It makes me even sadder now that people forget what it was like in that time... when we were all so unified. When we all stood up together with a common pain and a common goal. We waved our flags and saluted our soldiers... but slowly those flags have gone into storage and the jobs our brave young men and women do are condemned as wrong by the media. What is it going to take for us to come together again and appreciate everything we have and all we've fought for?
I am not a military woman. In fact I have no substantial ties to the military... but everyday I'm thankful that men and women like you this generation and generations past have fought valiantly to protect me, my future and the future of those who are too stupid to recognize how brave you all are. Thank you for all you do.

I was a senior in high school. We had a morning show during our home room period. They mentioned the first plane hitting the tower as kind of a throw away fact as the show was ending. My teacher left the T.V. on after the show ended, and we saw the second plane hit just as the bell was ringing to go to 3rd period. I don't think anyone made it to that next class on time.

I'll never forget and I wish I could for several reasons. One of them was because back then I was living with my abusive boyfriend. I was getting to the point where I was about to leave him but he had brainwashed me so much that I "couldn't". He had woken me telling me of this and because I no longer respected him, I told him I didn't care. I went to work as usual, crying the whole way because of the sensitive songs that were playing on the radio. When I got to work I still couldn't believe that we were not sent home! I worked at a tutoring center and they STILL had the kids come in for their sessions. I was a wash at work.....a month later, my boyfriend disappeared for 2 days, came home and hit me. I kicked him, called the cops and got the 'f' out of the house and had a restraining order put on him.

2 reasons why I hate this day....ex boyfriend and the terrorists though to me they are one and the same. I hate all of them.
