| | Hey... I'm a former Marine who was talked into joining up with the National Guard.
In my state I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon... and I cant find any regs
that prohibit the carrying of firearms while in uniform. (Granted, I dont really know my
way around Army/NG regs)
I know I cant carry while at the armory or any federal or state buildings, but if I'm still
in uniform when I head home or I'm out in town, is it okay for me to continue to carry
a weapon?
lol I dont even have any uniforms yet, but I dont want to do anything that would get
me in trouble or highlight myself in a bad way on my first drill. :P

| | Hello Dustin. I have researched this regulation myself. As it stands there are currently no restriction to my knowledge prohibiting the concealed carry of a privately owned weapon OFF Military installation. On a Military installation you are subject to the laws and current jurisdiction of governance by the rules set forth by that installations commander. I do currently have a concealed carry licence issued by the state of Texas myself.
I can tell you this... if you are traveling to and from work you will most likely NOT be carrying a weapon concealed. I say this mainly due to the fact most Military installations prohibit any type of privately owned weapon concealed or otherwise transported on or off facilities without the explicit written consent of command. Now if you were to go home after duty hours and "go out" in uniform carrying concealed, that's a whole different story. I would see no reason to do so, however that is your prerogative. A concealed weapon as it stands has sort of a grey area. It does not detract from the uniform.. however it is also not part of the uniform. That is my view on concealed weapons in uniform. For more information I would use your chain of command or get in contact with legal for more information on this matter.

| | Even if I had a permit I would not conceal a wepon upon my uniform, now Mo is an open carry state.

| | Dustin, Go to the base police station and talk with the duty Sgt. Show your CCW licenses BUT, DO NOT HAVE THE WEAPON on you are in your vehicle when you go and ask questions. They will ask and then will say, "lets go and check your vehicle" to see if you are straight-up with us.
I know by now you have found out the full skinny what you should do, so let us know how you came out what are you doing.

| | Dustin,
The answer to your question, is NO. As long as you're in uniform, you have to abide by the regulations. If you check out the regulation below, you will not find anything allowing you to strap on your personally owned weapon and wear it anywhere.

| | When I was in the Guard, I had a CCW license and never during drill had the uniform on person in uniform. Some posts allow CCW (Peterson AFB with approval) but its when they are in civilian clothes not military.
