Nathan, thanks for joining the AF. The 'open' thing got you at the very best AFB at your point in the AF. You will not be there long unless they select you to be perm-party where you stand. So enjoy the area.
Your course will be to ID all types of ammo, 7.62 cal to the bunker-busters, that is used on every type of AF aircraft. You'll learn the components of each type, how, where it'll be used. Safety will be the first issue. You'll have to care for the ammo until it is called-up to be mounted on the acft. Stacking and storing. I hope you are 6.2 tall, 240 lbs and ready for many hours of back work. Most of all and the biggest thrill is the field trips to blow things away and up.
These six weeks will zip in a flash. Don't worry about the 'ropes' , they do not take it to the next base.
Thanks Jim, I would expect that comment from a 'Senior'. What diffs does it make?
Active or CitizenTroop, the bomb still needs to be finned.
wow man, you should prepare to do nothing that you learn in tech. school. i'm an ammo troop, i love it, but it sucks. you could end up building bombs, fixing trailers, working accountability, or working with missiles. but more then likely, you'll be gate guard for the bomb dump, or sweeping out buildings. fun stuff..
Your job will consist of working in munitions (bomb dump) building, storing and transporting munitions to the flightline (line D). On the flightline you will transfer the munitions to the aircraft armament systems specialists who will load them on the aircraft.
