| | My husband and I will be moving to Ft. Lewis in September after we leave Korea! Washington sounds beautiful but I cannot find much info on the post and if there's much to see in the area. We are also having a baby, and I was wondering if it is family oriented unlike here in Korea? Please let me know what it's like and what there is to do!! Thank you!!

| | I went to Ft. Lewis from ROK in 1968, the rule then and I'm sure it is now, If you can see Mt Rainer then it's going to rain...if you can't see it then it's because it's raining/
| | haha I like that rule! I'm native to WA and currently married to a soldier out of Fort Lewis. If you have any questions or just want to talk shoot me a message on here. :)

| | I have been station there for at lease 3 times in the 70s, 80s, & 90s! A good post to be station but it does rain a lot! Mild summers and there winter is mostly drizzle rain with some snow off and on. Oh, one joke they use to have was that if Fort Lewis goes without rain for more then four days in a row then it is classified as a DROUGHT!!!
Those who desire Peace must Train for War....

| | hahahha I'll remember that one...thanks!!

| | I am currently here wityh my family. I actually PCSd here after a year in Korea myself. It is beautiful, very "green" and there is plenty to do here if you're willing to go out and do things. My kids love it here also. Any questions, let me know.

| | We just got here and I haven't seen much, but what I have sure beats Korea! The mountain is beautiful and the wildlife is incredible! We live off post so I haven't met too many ppl but I hope to soon or I'll go nuts!! lol Thanks and if you have any suggestions or know of any fishing spots I'd love ideas!! Thank you!

| | I was stationed there from 1997 to 2000. I was assigned to a Combat Engineer battalion and loved every minute of it. Lots to see and do when off-duty. RUGGED!!!
| | Have fond memories of Ft Lewis in 1969. Spend 3 days there after returning from Vietnam. Did I mention that was when I was released from active duty and vecame a proud civilian.
| | I spent my last five years at Lewis, love it, got married there and had my son! So much to do for families. The rain is a small price to pay for the beautiful summers, and taking your kids to Rainer during the winter!
| | We have been here a yr now and had our 2nd son here! We do love it!

| | I Just PCS'd from Ft. Lewis Last year, After spending 8 years there, PLEASE TRUST ME when i say, DO NOT move into Lakewood or most of Tacoma, the BEST area to live is Lacey, it is a Higher cost of living, but it's a nice college town, i was paying $1,200 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath 1 car garage Condo in Lacey, it's a 20 minute drive to post, easier to get into main gate from the south than from the north.
Portland is 1.5-2 hours drive away, very nice, and no sales tax, Seattle is beautiful in the summertime, defenitly take the Ride the Ducks and Underground Tours
