Quick Question to my fellow Marines on 02/16/2010 08:30 pm
Im a Sergeant in the 06 field, ive been in going on 5 years in May. Ive already reenlisted a year ago, and i have 3 years left on my contract. Frankly im tired of my job, ive been deployed to iraq 3 times, and yes i have actually had time outside the wire, however... i still just dont feel like what i do makes a difference. My question is.. what are my options as far as getting into a combat MOS, in the reserves or active duty, or i have a couple of friends in the Army that used to be Comm Marines.. not that i want to give up my MC Blues, or that i don't love the honor of being a Marine because i do, its everything to me, but on the other hand, im tired of feeling like i dont do anything and im ready to change that. anyway, anything you can tell me, or help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

hey sergeant, One thing you could look into doing since your e-5 is doing a billet change(i think thats the right name for it). lol its been 3yrs since i was when so a little rusty. but i do know that you can change from your 06 mos to like an 03 mos. shouldnt be to hard. Semper Fi

Generally it's not easy to switch MOS's mid-tour, however, since you are an E-5 there are a lot of school options available for you. You may consider applying for DI, Recruiter, MSG schools to change billets until you re-enlist when you can attempt to change your MOS.
