I am looking for help from anyone who would know about DFAS and their regulations.

I have been honorably discharged from the Army for over 2 years now. I am completely out, when I was discharged I was already past my 8 year obligation. I was discharged at the end of my enlistment. I got an letter from DFAS this week stating that I was overpaid for a travel voucher submitted for November 2005. And that I am required to repay them this overpayment. Does anyone have any idea on DFAS authority to do something like this? It would be one thing if I was still in the IRR but I am not even in that. I do not think it is legal for DFAS to go after someone who is not in any shape or form under military authority for a mistake that they made. So any help you can give me on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well if you don't have documention to prove otherwise, your gonna have to pay up or they will deduct it from your federal tax return!
