Hey everyone!

I'm new to this site, having signed up a little over a week ago. My name's Erik and I'm currently in the DEP for another three weeks. I've read the posts in regards to what to expect for basic traning and what not, so I won't be asking about that. I'm mainly here to make some new friends. I guess I should tell a little about myself, huh?

I enlisted back in May and I ship out in early September. I'm being sent to Ft. Jackson. I'm really looking forward to the entire experience, regardless of people saying that I'll have drill sergeants yelling in my face, etc., etc. I recently got married and we're both looking forward to our new life together in the military.

So, in closing, I hope to meet and make new friends on here. Who knows? Maybe I'll bump into a few of you down the road.

Hey, Eric. Ex-Staff Sergeant Rich Stephan here. Just wanted to say welcome and you have made a good choice. The military is a good life but it can be bad or can be good, its all in what you make it. I loved it but mine was cut shorter than I wanted but thats the sacrifice you make for your country. They not only will take care of you but your family as well and dont worry about the drill sergeants, they are only there to break you down from your civilian form and build you back up into a warrior, a team player and most importantly, a soldier. What is your MOS? If they are shipping you to Jackson, then I am guessing Airborne? Correct me if I am off, lol. I would be glad to be your friend and chat with you some more and give you alittle inside info about Army life before you ship off to basic. Just click on my profile, add me as a friend ( read if you so desire) and leave me a message in my box. Congrats and welcome to the Army family because Once a Soldier, Always a Solider. Hooah.
