I know this question is probably plastered all over this website, but I have yet to find it and I have to ask.
My fiance and I have been together a year and will be getting married here within the next month. He's in the DEP for the US Army and ships out to NC on the 6th of September. When we met he was not military.
I'm curious as to how all the military wives and girlfriends handle their loved ones time away. I'm already hurting because I know I'll miss him so very much while he is away just in Basic and AIT alone. He is going to be a Petroleum Supply Specialist and that means he will and can get shipped anywhere. I just wonder... How do the wives and girlfriends stay sane? Is there any tips you could give me on how to handle this and how to be fully supportive (which I already am) without being scared for him?
Any help or words of wisdom will be amazing.
Thanks!

this is the best advice i can give you: talk to a military wife. talk to several. there are many out there that will give you their opinion on the subject. you are joining a long line of wives that have been doing the same thing when their husbands have gone off to war since the romans and before. it is definitely an eye opener and it takes a strong-willed individual to accomplish many things while your husband is away. there is also something you should get involved with as well... that is your husbands unit's family readiness group. he should know all about this once he arrives at his first duty station after graduating basic/ait or OSUT.
