Hey everyone it's Seaman Recruit Sorensen here. I leave for Basic training next wedndesday the 23 of August. I'm really excited but I'm also VERY VERY nervous. Any tips or ideas on how to get out the gitters before I leave?

I have no advice for you there, I wish I did.

I do wish you the very best of luck and remember to keep your eyes on the goal at the end of the road.

BEST OF LUCK!

I have the best advice anybody can give you:

1) do your very best.
2) listen to instructions and follow them.
3) do what is morally and ethically correct at all times, including when no one is looking.
4) you will only survive, if you practice team work. No lip service here, you must learn to play well with others. Your mates will be there to help you, and you will help them. It works out in the end.
5) when you think you had enough, take a deep breath, and do your very best.
6) after that deep breath, know that 1000s of people had made it through, just like you will.
7) finally, do your very best.
8) Oh, before I forget, you must insure that you give it your all, and do your very best.

I hope this helps seaman recruit, and save your money.

Squeeze of the shoulder,

Uncle Jerry
P.S.: hang out with the good kids, not the a** hats.

Have fun at Basic. Just have a good time and listen to what the instructors have to tell you. I know Navy and Army are different, but all in all it should be fun. I know I was nervous, but after the first couple days you get a little more relaxed.
