Greetings:
Are any of y'all military brats?
My father (now deceased) was a master sergeant in the United States Army.
I mostly grew up in Spring Lake, just outside the main gate of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Other duty stations were Ashiya Air Force Base, Japan, where I was in the second grade, and William Beaumont General Hospital (now called William Beaumont Army Medical Center) in El Paso, Texas, where I started high school.
My dad retired from the Army in 1962, and I was inducted into the United States Army in 1967.
I think I had a good life as an Army brat, and loved sailing to and from Japan on a Navy transport ship.
I always enjoyed the open house on Armed Forces Day, with all the demonstrations and displays.
While living in El Paso, we went to White Sands Missile Range and watched missiles fired and drones shot down.
While living in North Carolina, we'd go to the drop zones at Fort Bragg and watch the paratroopers.
Thank you.
