Greetings:
I reside at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C.
Here is the URL for the official Armed Forces Retirement Home web site:
http://afrh.gov/
This is the "Old Soldiers' Home" that you enlisted personnel paid for with deductions of twenty-five cents from your monthly pay.
Also, if you ever had to pay a fine or forfeit pay, that money went to support the Soldiers' Home.
To live here, you must either be retired from the Armed Forces, or be a disabled veteran.
A few years ago, the Department of Defense combined the United States Soldiers' and Airmen's Home in Washington, D.C. with the Naval Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, to create the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
So, no matter which military service you were in, you are now eligible to live in either of the Homes.
The Naval Home in Gulfport, Mississippi was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and is currently being rebuilt.
In the meantime, all Armed Forces Retirement Home personnel are housed here.
Medical support is provided by Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
I have a very comfortable room, and you can see a video of it at the YOU TUBE web site.
Just look for "writesong", and "My Room".
Thank you.
