It's not hard to lookup demographics for the military. Like how much they earn, what their rank is (duh, they wear it) and where some spend their money (audacious cars). But after visiting one of the larger military posts in the country - and having been to more military installations than anyone I know - WHY would you NOT shop your commissary??? It's $2-3 dollars cheaper than Walmart on just about everything!!!! Yet I hear ppl whine about how they don't make enough money, etc...and I wonder, do they shop at thier commissary??

Granted AAFES is a totally DIFFERENT beast. They are not like the commissary - aafes is FOR profit, and don't offer much in terms of anything I could see. A few years ago Walmart offered to take over AAFES, and the fat-cats that run aafes (mostly retired generals, etc) systematically shot that idea down quickly. AAFES has some problems better suited for a different Topic.

So, WHO shops their commissaries religiously here?? If NOT, then why exactly? Thanks,

I always shop at the commissary for my food, necessities like shampoo, soap ect ect. The only time I go somewhere else is when I need a good cut of beef and I go to a butcher shop for that. I only go to JcPenny's for clothes, I don't shop at the BX for that, unless it's US Army attire of course.

Overall, it really depends on what I need though.
