Hi All,
GI Pictures breaks new ground. Its the first-ever program for military members to access film and media opportunities. Its the way for active armed forces members, veterans, and dependents to participate in writing, producing, directing, acting, and crewing on professional movies, television and web series. This means jobs. Money. Having your scripts produced. Appearing in movies. Building a new career.
GI Pictures is the creation of NEHST Studios. Financed to produce feature films, television, and web series NEHST has announced a film fund of 250 million dollars. CEO Larry Meistrich has produced over 50 features including the Oscar-winning "Sling Blade," "You Can Count on Me," "Croupier," and "Belly."
GI Pictures came about when screenwriter Cary Abbott, USMC-Ret. was pitching NEHST one of his story ideas. A Desert Storm veteran, he spent years trying to get his screenplays read, but he could never get in the Hollywood door. NEHST gave him access, and optioned his script.
GI Pictures wants to help you break in. First, we're looking for scripts to build a production around. We want you to submit your ideas. We will select at least one each year to fund and produce staffing the production completely with military and their dependents. It doesnt have to be a military movie any genre is OK.
Dont worry if you have no experience great script ideas come from everywhere. And if you're interested in crewing a film, the skills you have from the military discipline, logistics, organization, teamwork, and any technical skills youve acquired, can immediately be translated and retrained into film production skills. We want motivated beginners. Do it!
Many veterans have gone on to great careers in film and media reality show superstar Mark Burnett, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone, and actor R. Lee Ermey, to name only a few. GI Pictures combines the two things America does better than anyone in the world military and movies. We will discover the brightest and the best and give them access. Our objective with GI Pictures is to support the troops and their dependents and create jobs and economic growth.
