Are you (or a loved one) back from Iraq or Afghanistan? And do you happen to live in, or desire to work in, Texas? Then you need to contact your nearest representative of the Texas Veterans Leadership Program.
I am one of only 28 Veterans Resource and Referral Specialists assigned throughout Texas, working within the Texas Veterans Leadership Program and I just wanted to let everone know about this program in Texas (hopefully it will be adopted by all other states soon). The Texas Veterans Leadership Program (TVLP) is a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) resource and referral network that serves to connect returning veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan with the resources and tools they need to lead productive lives and enjoy the full benefits of the society they have willingly served. As a Veterans Resource and Referral Specialist (VRRS) I work to find ancillary services in local communities, some of which will be community service organizations, veterans service organizations, and faith-based programs. As the VRRS, I also will link federal to local governmental agencies and programs as well as community leaders and employers. Our network of returning veterans play an integral role in addressing the needs of other returning veterans, including referrals to address employment, training, medical, educational, and other needs of veterans.
All completely free for those who have participated in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM or Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
