It gets better. You just have to get off base and find things to do. I really enjoy the area. Go to Carolina beach, the App Mtns. You can take the Amtrak from Fayetteville to Washington D.C. for 60 bucks, and thats round trip

I just got stationed here this week, and while we're still trying to figure out where everything is fully, both me and my wife both like it. Bragg is a lot better then a lot of posts, namely Fort Huachuca Arizona. But I guess that all depends on your outlook, and job.

I'll agree with the above statements... but peoplewise, it sucks. I've never met more hostile, unfriendly, and down right rude people in my entire life- and those were just the wives! I'm glad we got out of there, but looks like we'll be headed back :(

We got to Bragg in October '08 and we love it here. Our children are adjusting well in their schools and everyone is so friendly. We are planning a trip over to the Outer Banks on our next four day. We've been through the blue ridge parkway and its so beautiful. Asheville is a little town not to be forgotten with a European feel. They have the historical Biltmore Estates, many coffee shops, dining and shopping. Which us wives like to do :-) Fayetteville has lots of museums, the Amtrack, shops after shops and all types of dining to choose from. We still have alot to explore within this town and state and are looking forward to it. This state is so beautiful and we love being stationed here at Fort Bragg.

I agree with the statements about the people here for sure!! :) It just seems that in Fayetteville, that it is normal to walk around in a wife beater carrying a base ball bat at midnight lol I guess I just got use to Benning? idk. I can't wait to leave that is for sure! But I reckon everyone has their favorite and least favorite bases! What's the amtrak?

Fort Bragg . . . Fort Bragg . . . Fort Bragg . . . home of Army Special Operations . . . What to do . . . Fort Bragg itself is ok. It beats Fort Stewart, GA any day. I've lived here since 2000, give or take a couple years. If you like leisure walks in natural environments, you can go to the Cape Fear Rive Trail, 4 miles in and out equal an 8 mile walk. If you like to paint ball, there's Freedom Paintball (now Black River Paintball I think, off McCarther Rd), like prostitues go to Bragg Blvd, there's like four different movie theatres to choose from including a newly constructed cinema and shopping center at Hope Mills, many gyms throughout Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base, the mall off Skibo Rd plus many restaurants, the range is off of Yadkin and one in Spring Lake . . . there are many things to do here, but it depends on your personal taste. The attitude around here, well, it all depends on the who the person is. Some people are nice and friendly while others are rude and inconsiderate. Don't take it personal, that's just how they deal with their own insecurities.
