Absolutely devastating. It will get smaller and under funded. This is going to suck really bad for all members still on active duty. On the plus side, we can move past the ethnic divide and get back to promoting and filling positions based on QUALIFICATIONS and BRAINS, not because someone needs a shot, which I have always thought was total horseshit to get a position based on being a minority.

Barack Obama is an intelligent man and he knows he has to keep the military strong in order to keep the terrorist under control. Diplomacy alone will not work, but he hopes to use a combination of strategies to keep the US safe from terror attacks. Obama is also keeping the current Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, who has been working with the Bush administration for the past two years.

As for funding the military, if you make over $250,000 a year, you will pay higher taxes, per the Obama plan. Taxing the rich to keep our country safe, is what we need to do at the present time. There was a time, in our countrys history (prior to 1985) where the rich paid no taxes, because of tax loopholes, so now it is their turn to step up and pay their fair share, and then some more, to protect America from terrorist.

I personally think all of us in the Military are about to get screwed....I hope I'm wrong....but I don't think so (most of the dem. presidents we have had to the last 40 years have "raped" the military...why sholud he be any different)

Crystal Deters said it best, and is the only one with valid points. I'm also curious as to how our military has been "screwed" by all Democratic sitting presidents.

I look forward to have a leader I can respect and trust.
