I have noticed some profiles on here that are clearly fraudulent (E1s with the MoH, for example). I don't know if these are people that are just trying to get laid, or if they have more sinister intentions. Please be aware of such issues and practice proper OPSEC while on this, or any other, site.

Hey Dustin, you should TOS them. Claiming to be a MoH recipient (and not being one) is a federal offense.

Cheers!!!

Uncle Jerry

P.S.: thank you for the OPSEC reminder. This is important people!!!

Very good reminder, while in afganistan and while my brother was in iraq myspace and facebook where not allowed for periods of time after people said the wrong thing online, I couldnt imagine losing a military site due to opsec issues. Also as far as the fraudulant accusations on medals and time in service, did any one read the article in army times about the E-1 that lied about all those medals and deployments, he is now facing serious prison time, not worth it, if you want a medal of honor, earn it.

Back in 05 I was mobilized and started training for a deployment to Bosnia and it was the first time I found out about Myspace. So being as I didnt know anyone on there...I started asking around my company to see who was on it and start building up a friends list. Well I came across one guy in another platoon that had so much stuff about our unit listed that it wasnt funny. He had it listed what dates we were at FT Hood, what dates we were leaving and when we were supposed to arrive in Germany...How long we were going to be there, and where, not to mention exactly where we were going to be deployed and for how long. It was rediculous! An entire time line was drawn out! Ended up reporting it, and it was taken down. I felt a little bad about it...because I hate to rat on a fellow soldier, but I did bring it up to him and he laughed it off so I felt I had no other choice. Some people just dont really think anything of it until something bad happens to them I guess.

No joke. Anyone who thinks that the enemy doesn't have internet access is seriously mistaken. Keep yourself and your buddy's safe.

Enter your Response to OPSEC Issues.I'm new (obviously) but the website got the idea I'm air force & tried to quiz me about AF moc. Haven't tackled anything else yet. More to the point, potential enemies can watch the military channel on tv and learn too much; internet is just crazy full of info. scary.

I've seen military men/women AS WELL AS THEIR significant other's or spouses have countdowns and other info that violate OPSEC on myspace. IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! People are so uneducated.......I thought it was a "duh" to know that you don't post this crap online because terrorists can get online too. Apparently, not because these people must think they don't have access to computers...well, um, my ex TAUGHT the Afghanies (not terrorists though) how to use computers when he was deployed so um yes, terrorists have access to the internet.....
