| | Just wanted to make the subject up so we can give some of the new guys and gals some help through the process.
We don't need no "NO-GO's" at this station.
"82nd All the Way", Hooooaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

| | work on the runs, it was a big thing for me since i wasn't a runner before i went. don't get an attitude with the black hats, it cost me the class. you are lucky not to have to do pull ups but work on them anyway, it will just be easier for you.
| | You didn't have to do pull-ups.......Wow...that was like an every day thing for us in 1990.
Blackhats were adimit about it. And, it was good for our riser pull strength.
| | went to jump schoo in 92..,,ran in our black boots and did pullups for training, breakfast, lunch and dinner..do ten and go. I actually installed a pull up bars in my unit..asked every paratrooper to do 10...and one for airborne god in the sky..

| | Thats to funny.
I remember the ohhhhh soooooooooo hot and muggy days in August, Benning style. They would have us do PLF's all day long and run everywhere we went. We stunk to high heaven and had wood chips down our cracks...LOL
| | we still had to do pull ups, the classes now a days don't have to do them. thats b.s. i think they should still do them.
| | Well, that was then and this is now. I'm sure that there have been changes through out time that have been so different from one generation to the next.
I would rather have done pull-ups anyway. Upper body strnegth was a very big thing. Maybe not now due to the changes in Chutes now-a-days.
T-11's are coming out.

| | Just got back from Airborne school = 10 pull ups, 10 push ups after every meal or when you enter or leave the company area.
They still use the T-10D, the T-11 won't happen for a while.
You run everywhere which is good for identifying injuries.
I got to jump both the C-130 and the C-17: The C-17 is a Cadillac compared to the Ford Pinto (C-130).

| | Same here I got out of Airborne school in may and it was push-ups and pull-ups before and after every meal and leaving and entering the company area. We ran to everything the only time we didn't was when we ran down to the airfield to rig our combat equipment and it was 100+ outside so we allowed to walk back. I've been at the 82nd since may and I still haven't had the chance to jump out of a c-17 but I do have a black hawk and Chinook under my belt

| | Airborne School, Nov. 1998. 4 C-130, 1 C-141, all day jumps, no night. 82d ABN, Mar. 2000 - Oct. 2001, 5 C-130, 1 C-17, and 1 Blackhawk, day and night, combat, and Saturday fun jumps. We also flew in a British C-130 in England, jump scratched for high winds. No British jump wings :(

| | Airborne class of 70 (summer) lovely weather in August to take a little run to the airport. Lets shower and get in the pit. I don't know what you sissy's do, but if you didn't do 75 to 150 push ups or got pushed around all day when I was there. You damn sure knew tomorrow was going to be your day! Starting class approx. 120 graduated 65. (and they said we were Good)

| | June 2001... 95 degrees and raining, running in BDUs and boots, gotta love it
| | The best part was SGT Airborne on the DZ with his megaphone. "Hey Airborne! You need to slip left!!" Then everybody would slip left, and he would respond "Not you, YOU!!" So everybody would slip back to the right. As far as advice, don't forget to drop your ruck before you hit. I made that mistake on Holland DZ (you all probably know that rocky @#$#@!#%).

| | November 2007... hate to upset everyone but there was NO pullups, we had electronics and we did only one combat equipment jump and FOUR hollywood jumps... don't blame me blame the fine black hats at 1-507 lol... but we did run alot if that counts for anything
| | I went in Summer 2007. We had to run everywhere (obviously). We had to do pull-ups in and out of the barracks area and in and out of the chow hall. I was in A co for jump school. 4 C-130 jumps, 1 C-17 (2 combat no night).
| | I've been airborne since november 2010 i've got 24 jumps all together i've got C-130, C-17, 2 German Jumps. and one SMJP( stinger missile jump). I've jumped day/ night. Always fun.

| | Went to Jump school Aug. 1983....Lots of running, push-ups, pull-ups, rolling thru the shower pits and don't forget the gig pit. The tower was closed due to someone getting hurt on the class before mine...That was a let down, no pun intended. I didn't know what a hollywood jump was until I arrived at Bragg, and those were only make up jumps on Sat.

| | Went to Airborne School in April of 1985. PT a-plenty ( including Pull-Ups). They used to make the Keeper of the Wings run around us with the guidon while we were running. He was a tough kid, I'll tell you that.. I earned a trip to the gig pit because the Boot Black scratched my boots all to hell. Sweat and saw dust.. Hooah!!! The Bn. Cmdr at the time was Lt. Col. Scott. He came in right before our very first jump and said " Who wants to snivel?" His book Charlie Mike was excellent and is still a good read today.
