I have a question, By next year I'm want to join the national guard well drop my weight then join and like were do they do BCT cause I know its different then Active duty
De Amber when you get orders you will find out, depends on your MOS also, but the recruiter will tell you,,but most likely Fort Jackson..combat arms MOS got Fort Benning GA,,or Fort Knox, kentucky..NG go to active duty basic training,,who told you they don't..but work on your push ups, situps and running. Make it a goal to be physically fit, it will benefit you in the long run. Good luck.
Does the recruiter help you I was told by a friend who actually left for basic she told me that a recruiter can come out and trains with you I was wondering if it was true or not if it is true can they help u before you enlist?
It depends on the recruiter. I know that mine did, but we were on good terms before i enlisted, Talk to you recruiter and see if he/she can do that. If they can't see if you can find a friend who knows what they are doing and have them help you out
Good luck on that Deoliveira. Are you considering joining the National Guard or Full TIme Army (or Army Reserves)? I know that with the National Guard you could spread your basic training out over the course of 12 - 13 months, one weekend a month at a time. The downside (from what I've been told) to doing that is, on the days that you're at "basic", if there isn't a lot going on, guess what? You get to rake leaves, pick up trash on post, etc. So I've been told it's better to just go straight on threw basic. Of course we are different. I'm "old"... I'm 38, and don't have any weight issues...it just takes me a lot longer to recover from workouts. And I'm educated, so I wouldn't stop with basic, but then go OCS and that's more weeks of workouts. One thing I've heard, it's not IF youwill be deployed, but WHEN. Also, don't expect anything different from 'Active Duty Army" if you go reserves and show up at a deployment. A lot of these people carry a lot of disgust for both grossly overweight & reservists & guard - because everyone always thinks "the grass is greener on the other side". So, get in pretty good shape. The Army LOVES - LOVES - LOVES to run. Lemme say that again - THEY LOVE TO RUN - as in 5 - 20 miles. So lookup the boards on requirements for your age (how fast you have to be to qualify for a 1 mile & 2 mile run) and how many situps / pushups / chinups. Any you'll be fine...remember, the ARMY loves to RUN. lol
