[size=5]Okay, give me some tips on getting rid of a gut. A 40'ish woman that sits and works at a desk for approx. 12 hours a day. Easy suggestions would be appreciated the most. lol I've only got about ten pounds to lose so I'm no mama Cass or anything.

Old fashioned way works always. Situps! But you have to eat healthy also or you will be just waiting your time.

You can cut your body fat percentage down by a lot just by eating healthy and cutting out all the junk food. If you combine some daily cardio into the mix you will be dropping weight very quickly.

Cut back on alcohol (if you drink) and soda, and start running. From my experience, running is the BEST way to cut pounds. If you want to get a little more advanced though, check out crossfit.com.

sit ups , crunches, running, and diet, or if you are really crazy wrap yourself in a garbage bag and sit in a sauna for about 30 minutes a day, we did in high school to make weight for wrestling

Hey Jillian,,Well i have lost 7 pounds already a week and half.,,i have gain weight being with the guard,,i am in the same boat as you. I need to lose 10 pounds to my healthy weight. But my morning meals consist of bowl of oatmeal, banana, boiled egg remove the yoke. and drink a glass or two of water. at 9 or 10pm eat a banana or celery with peanut butter, at lunch skinless flavored chicken or well seasoned fish with plain rice with bowl of green salad no dressing, if you have fat free dressing its ok but with moderation 1 to 2 glass of water drink water... At 2pm apple or banana with water..at 5pm dinner is skinless chicken or fish (salmond preferably) with seasoning, asparagus or string beans with 2 glass of water..at 7pm eat berries (blue berries preferably) or some light fruit. There is a purpose for all the waters. Mike W is right avoid junk food, no cookies, sugary stuff sodas, flavored drinks. your body is eating 6 small meals a day, it working to burn calories and water is helping it burning and cleaning your system. Do this for 3 weeks straight and you will lose weight guaranteed. it will be difficult this takes descipline. Try to exercise with eliptical machine gradually go to 20 minutes and when your comfortable with eliptical machines, it has less impact on my knees,,start running,,attempt to go a mile at a comfortable pace, then increase the next time. same with the machine if you don't like running. Also Dennis is right situps there are 3 regions in your abs upper, mid and lower..there are plenty of mens and womens magazines on Ab workout try the one the suits or feel that is helping. But find your motivation,,write down, post it in your desk,, list what you have to do for eating and stick to it..I know you can do it..it work for this old master fitness trainer..take care your going to do great..I hope this helps.

You cannot target just one specifc area. Best way to burn fat is to excercise and PORTION control.

Use an exercise ball when ur sitting if you can. It helps work ur abs. Also crunches and bicycles are great for abs. The only thing that works for me is portion control. counting cals is great if you can stick to it(i suck at it so i just eat small portions).

small portions of what? cake, snikers bars, portion of deep fried chicken, hamburger, cheesecake,,ok you guys believe in portions without proper planning of food intake and what type of food? no one can lose weight that way,,even with exercise especially if your over 40...targeting specific areas,,tricep muscles to remove soft flabbiness,,you tell someone they can't do this? I just smoked half of the young bucks in my platoon,,the playstation generation.

Yes RONALD, you CAN have small portions of ANYTHING you want to eat. Don't go overboard. If you want something sweet you don't NEED to eat the whole thing...have a bite or two or better yet don't buy a huge candy bar. If you choose to eat fried chicken, you can't be eating the whole damn thing therefore if you eat grilled chicken you can have more. It's up to you...if you only want junk, plan on not eating very much but if you want to eat healthy you can eat a whole hell of a lot more.

Just A Girl come to my unit in Cali and train my overweight soldiers who haven't pass their tape or PT test, well test out your junk food portion plan..and see if you make them lose weight as fast as I can. And have much energy as my soldiers who i have trained. I think everybody's lifestyle different were talking about losing weight..here very quickly..hardcore outright,,good food..not portioning junk food. talking about losing weight in a 3 weeks,,,for me this plan works and two of my soldiers proved it. I have soldiers who are overweight and have taped for being overweight failed their PT test, with my plan they lost 20lbs in 3weeks...just eating healthy food,,6 small meals a day. lowered their cholestrol level and passed their PT test. They sent these soldiers to me because I'm a former master fitness trainer and can make a difference. Just a girl,,,i'm really liking you. You challenge me. I like that. Lets have lunch sometimes, I got to Blythe and Lake Havasu to visit my daughter. I will have a chicken lettuce salad and water. lol..hold off the snickers bar.

Losing weight fast is not recommended nor healthy. Of course if you starve yourself you will lose weight HOWEVER there will come a time when your body will hang on to EVERYTHING you put into it therefore causing you to gain weight.

In some ways I UNDERSTAND the reasoning behind why you do what you do but at the same time I DISAGREE with how hard ass you all are with doing it quick. It's NOT healthy.....

Its healthy if you eat correctly. This statement here is false: "HOWEVER there will come a time when your body will hang on to EVERYTHING you put into it therefore causing you to gain weight." Your body stores fat if you don't eat often enough. Your body gets into a rhythm of "I have no idea when I will eat next" then it starts storing food as fat. By eating healthy and 5-6 times a day of small portions, you are getting what your body needs. Now by combining that with exercise, then you body burns that "stored fat" causing you to lose the weight. Then once your weight is where you want it, then you manage your eating and exercise routine and eat what you need.

Ronald is talking about 20lbs, not 120lbs. Yea if you talking about losing that much weight then yea its not healthy and could put a strain on your heart. But if your that much overweight then you have bigger problems anyway.

But yea if your starving your self and running 5miles in a garbage bag to lose weight, yea that's not healthy :)

Bullsh*t....if you STARVE yourself your body WILL eventually start hanging on to every little thing you eat and you WILL gain weight. I have seen it firsthand.

I agree that eating HEALTHY and having portion control and excercising is the only way to lose weight but I have seen military guys STARVING themselves because they need to lose 10 lbs by an unrealistic date. Losing more than .5-2 lbs a week is UNHEALTHY.

I lost 50 pounds in 3 months by eating healthy and spinning. I even started getting a 6 pack!! Spinning is the best way for me to personally lose weight, and the motivation of the class helps. Since then I gained 85 because I was prego with twins and lost them and now my body is out of wack and I havent had time with work and school to hit the gym. As soon I do I am spinning again tho!! Spinning is also an awesome stress reliever!! For the record I ate many small meals throughout the day and stayed hydrated. My body naturally shed the pounds quickly. The pregnancy through off my thyroid along with some other things, and the stress of this deployment and being alone everyday isnt helping me from stress eating LOL
