How come military guys are so suprised when you....

try to support like send packages or talk to them??

Well, some people are just used to doing the job that they don't really understand why you send them packages and stuff. They are just doing their job, nothing special but civilians view it as a great service. It is a great service, but because they are so used to doing it, they don't view it as anything special or out of the ordinary.

It is also a treat when someone recognizes what they have done as many times they just get a thank you and then people go on the way Most the guys I know don't think of people wanting to take the time and reach out to them for doing their job.

I think it's nice to get care packages. But also as the person above said it's just our everyday job and I don't really think of it as a huge service like some people do. But thank you for everyone that does do things like that. I'm very grateful of YOU GUYS.

The care packages we get, we either give to the iraqi children when i was in iraq. or the poor serbian and albanian kids here in Kosovo..and there are many.

I think we get surprised because, well, because you care? LOL. I mean, the US gets bombarded by propaganda about how evil it is, or how wrong it is, or how imperialistic it is (you know, OIF and OEF), that it surprises us that somebody actually gives a hoot.

It surprises us, because in a selfish, highly individualistic society, there are actually people who are a bit more altruistic and take some time of their busy schedules to give a little "hug" from a distance.

So Kat (may I call you Kat?), we are surprised about the selflessness some people are able to display, without them wanting anything in return.

I'm a supporter through here and through the AAUSS program. I don't understand how people are blind to the fact that it's OUR men and women fighting for the life and liberty of the Iraqi nation... as well as our own futures. I try to do everything possible to help from here... I know there's not much. But I like to think that simple emails and letters and care packages can make a difference in someone's moral and life.

I have been told that most service men and women are not familiar with the organization I work with, to support the troops. So I educate them and tell then I will send you what ever you want, as long as it does not violate the military rules (no porn, no alcohol, etc.) They may have a camp store, but it may run out of what is needed or doesn't carry what the soldier likes to use. I go to Wal-mart or Target once a week for my families needs, so picking up some extra stuff is no big deal for me. Since most of the military is paid on a low pay scale, I feel it is my duty to support them, since they risk life and limb to keep me safe.

Each Soldier is assigned an angel, who writes them once a week and is to mail a care package at least once a month.

Soldiers Angels is a wonderful organizaton! They contacted me recently to offer their services to any soldier that I support on my Adopt a Troop Program. I am in the process of searching out those soldiers and will be getting back to them shortly. It takes a lot or hard work and a huge heart to contine a program like both of us have but, we do it from our hearts .
My program Adopt a Troop runs a bit differently but I do my very best to keep the morale of our fighting men and woman so that they continue to know we will always be therefor them and we love them whether we know them presonally or not. We want them to understand that we are able to go on with our lives, jobs etc. in safety because the are keeping us safe!! They put their lives on the line every day 24/7 so we can sleep nights.. I wish there was a way that we can make them feel that we pray for them every day and tell them we love them....
I hope they read this and pass the message around....
