Me = Air Force Reserve crossed over from Active Duty Army

I have ribbons for both, and some of them don't show up when I set my military inormation setting for either.

And this is despite both being in my military career section.
(so probably whatever filter you use needs to be adjusted to take into account the military career section too?)

When I change my status to Army, there are some Air Force, but I miss about 2-3 Air Force (Reserve) ribbons.
Right now (as Air Force), I'm missing all of my Army ribbons (4-5 IIRC).

Ohh my I never took that into account ;). I will think about this and figure out the best way to do this so you can select ribbons from both services.

The easy solution I think would be to include whatever branches/ribbons are included in the military career section vs just in the military information section.

Yea I know what you mean but the problem is that the branches have some of the same ribbons. So if I was to do that then they would get dupped on the page for selecting ribbons. What happens for example if you receive a ribbon in the Army then you get the same ribbon while in the Air Force. Do you just get a cluster?

In the "code" the same ribbon has a different ID number for the different branch. I just have to make sure things are selected correctly or it will cause some problems. Just trying to think it out.

Ahhh, I was thinking you had the common ones seperated out within the code already.
Didn't realize there were multiple IDs for the same ribbon in duplicate instances.

As for if you get the same ribbon in a second branch.....yeah, if it is eligible for a cluster, it should get a cluster, according to MPFs IIRC. For ones not eligible, something like a Korean Defense Medal, the ribbon would already be there, so wouldn't need to be added again.

That'd be my suggestion....seperate the ones that can be common among multiple branches, then have the branch-exclusive (and status-exclusive too (active vs reserve, etc)) ones be activated by presence in military career.
Looks like that'd be a 3 layer approach for ribbon availability in code.....common, branch, and status.

(BTW, not trying to make it seem easier than what it is.....I know coding can be a pain in the ;D )

BTW, if you could.....just message me when this is resolved, so that I may create a sig file to put elsewhere.

Yea I'm still trying to think about it. I keep hitting brick walls. I have to take into account how they are sorted with one another. I don't even know where to find that information, the sort order between branches. If I was to do this accurately, I would need to rebuild this entire section. To give you an example, I have 5 Afghanistan Campaign ribbons. One for each branch + Coast Guard. Thats 5 different ID's. I would need to combine these into one and for the branch I would put a value "all" or something. but then I need to figure out where it sorts within each branch, then a global sort. Obviously you can see how complicated its going to get. If I was to take shortcuts, then I risk the ribbons building in your rank in the incorrect order. I would rather not put out ribbons then put them out incorrectly. I just haven't figured out how to do this accurately. I have been thinking about it as you can see, just haven't got a viable solution yet.

Got ideas let me know. I am working on devices for army now, so hopefully you will have that this week.

I changed my mind, I am going to consolidate all these ribbons into ONE list so there is no duplicates. IT will take me a while to do that (time permitting), and then I will figure the code out and I will need to figure out a global sort order. Then I will have to update everyones ribbons to reflect the ID changes. Thats my attack plan and I will keep you posted on when I will be done.

Good to hear!

I'll try and mess around with it this next week, and then get my sig tag/rack out there.
