Sergeant Blake:
In the United States Army, we wear our unit awards separately from our personal awards, and for this reason, Army unit awards are larger than the unit awards worn by the other services.
Thus, the unit awards you have made available on this web site would not be suitable for display by soldiers.
The unit awards that I'm entitled to are:
(01) - Meritorious Unit Citation
(02) - Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry Medal Unit Award, with Palm
(03) - Republic of Viet Nam Civic Action Honor Medal Unit Award, with Palm
Again, for soldiers in, and veterans of, the United States Army, these unit awards are NOT to be displayed on the same ribbon rack as personal awards.
Maybe it would be cumbersome and impractical, for your purposes (i.e., the signature block), to include United States Army unit awards.
After all, how would you portray fourrageres?
Personally, I would like to have my Air Assault Qualification Badge displayed with my ribbons.
I'm certain all of the paratroopers, rangers, and Special Forces operatives would like to have their wings and qualification tabs displayed, and of course, the Combat Infantry Badge, Close Combat Badge, and Combat Medic Badge should be made available, due to their ultimate importance.
Also, the background graphics you offer for the signature blocks could include some backgrounds that are more historic.
With the exception of the ammunition, the equipment depicted in your background graphics didn't exist when I was a soldier.
I'm using the graphic of the M-4 carbine, which hadn't yet been invented or issued.
My basic individual weapons were the M-16 rifle, M-14 rifle, M-203 rifle, M-79 grenade launcher, and M-1911 pistol.
We had jeeps, not humvees, UH-1 "Iroquois" helicopters, not UH-10 "Blackhawk" helicopters, and the most commonly seen jet fighter was the F-4 "Phantom".
Contrary to what Hollywood likes to show, in Viet Nam, only United States Marines and Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols (i.e., "LRRP", pronounced, "LERP") wore camouflage uniforms, none of the units I was assigned to were ever permitted to wear "boonie" hats, and three (03) units in the United States Army were never authorized to wear subdued unit insignia on their uniforms, i.e., the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile), the 1st Infantry Division, and the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized).
But, it's all mox nix.
I like what you've already created.
Thank you.
