Anyone ever lived at Ft. Ord

Hi. My husband will be going for his tech school at the Presidio in Monterey, and we are thinking about living on base. Anyone here ever lived there? If so, could you tell me what it is like and if you liked living there on base? Thanks!

I grew up by Ft. Ord and it is my understanding that the base has been closed. The Presidio is still there but I don't know what they do for housing. As far as the area, the Monterey- Carmel area is beautiful but very expensive.

Ft.Ord is closed. My Husband was stationd there from 1989-1991.
Monterey is beautiful, a little expensive. We lived off post for a while and we paid 575$ for a 2 bed Apartment in Seaside.

Yeah, prices from 20 years ago for probably anything now would likely be a steal.

I was there from 86 to 89. I lived in Marina for $500 a month then moved on post to Hayes Cir in Abrams Park. It was expensive then to live off post. I couldnt even imagine how much now.
