I'm Kara and I've been an Army wife for all of 1 month. my husband is being deployed to iraq from Ft. Hood in the 1st cav 2-8 division. I'm looking to be moving to Ft. Hood/Killeen area in a few days from Austin. I've been in austin for the past 5 years and in Texas all my life.

My name is Helen, I and the founder of Adopt a Troop Program from Long Island New York. adoptatroop60@aol.com.
I started this program in 2003 when the war started and have been blessed to support
hundreds of troops from the Army and a small group from the Marines. I have about 60 volunteers but I really could use more. I just received rosters from 4 more units from the Army Reserve stationed in Iraq. They were deployed withint the past month.
My program sends letters, greeting cards from all occasions and my best program is Operation Happy Birthday. Our care packages are personalized. We ask what the troop need and then we try to supply it to them. We have adopted the 344th Med Task Force in Abu Ghraib, The 1-10 CAV, The 4th INF DIV , and and the 404th ASB.
If anyone would like to Adopt a Troop or would like to be adopted please let me know.
