We are NOT on the best ever duty station. We are on a Navy Base, so you may understand my deliemma. This is our first time not being on a Marine base and boy has it been difficult. The area is horrible as well as the people around us. We came here from Japan and tried to give it a chance. We have never been on base where the main focus is civilians and not the military members/families. We consider this hell and my husbands career ender. He is trying to get orders out BUT no one is wanting him to leave not caring that he would LOVE to continue his career somewhere beneficial, somewhere other than a Navy base for sure. I can not imagine him doing anything else other than being a Marine. He loves it and prides himself on being the best. Why would you want to hold someone like that back? Why wouldn't you allow this Marine to go where he could do what he's been trained to do rather then stay here and keep cleaning up the lazy Navy guys messes everyday?(*this is by no means an exaggeration*) I support him 100% but it's hard when I see he's miserable and could be used elsewhere to benefit the Marine Corp. It's hard to be strong when he's my rock and always the strong one. I am left with the horrible decision of moving home while he stays here in hell by himself. Even my children are miserable and that's the last straw for me. I am at a loss on what is the right thing to do at this point.

OK I replied once and I got cut off (Bad weather).

So here we go again.

I am sorry to hear you guys are having a rough time. He has a duty to perform no matter how bad it is, it is still his job. Barring him being able to get another assignment early he will have to complete his tour there. Do not leave your husband there by himself, I know what I would say. Something to the affect of " I know you guys are suffering and maybe you all can stay with my parents/ your parents until my time is up over here. Deep down inside I would love to have my family there with me, something to actually look forward to at the end of a miserable day. He is your rock?
Guess what, you are his rock as well, it works both ways.
Chattanooga has a lot of history in it. Get together with your family one day (soon) and make plans to do something every wekend that your husband doesn't have to work, this will make time go by faster as well as actually give everyone something to look forward to.

Look at the attractions near the bottom.
I know the Smoky's are not to far away and if you get tired of looking at Naval personnel there is always Ft. Campbell Ky. About 4- 5 hour drive, home of the 101st. ABN Division (Air Assault) Army base BTW. It is larger than the base you are at and can visit it's museum, PX and recreational areas there. I was stationed there for 4 years and absolutely loved the place.

If you or your husband need to talk feel free to contact me.

Good luck and God Bless, Bill[url=http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-479361-chattanooga_vacations-
