i am going to benning for bct on aug 10, and i have heard that my mos of 14S is going under and they are being moved to other relateable mos's. any replies ti discuss this are appreciated.

No, its not. 11B, 11C, 11H, or 11M are infantry. 14S is not, if anything, its combat arms.

14S -- AVENGER Crewmember
Major duties. The AVENGER crewmember supervises, operates or serves as a member of a lightweight, highly mobile, Air Defense weapons system.
(1) Skill Level 1. Prepares, operates and fires the AVENGER and Man Portable Air Defense System weapons systems. Establishes and maintains radio and wire communications. Assists in maintaining situation map. Performs target engagement evaluation. Applies infrared techniques to detect and engage targets. Operates identification, friend or foe programmer/charger. Resupplies ammunition and prepares systems for firing. Performs emergency procedures for weapons systems. Maintains sight alignment on systems. Operates and maintains system carriers.
(2) Skill Level 2. Supervises and assists the preparation and firing of the AVENGER/ Man Portable Air Defense System weapons systems. Collects and consolidates intelligence information. Processes special and periodic reports. Prepares and maintains situation map. Transmits intelligence and grid locations of incoming targets. Designates fighting positions. Alerts firing batteries. Transmits alert status and readiness changes.
(3) Skill Level 3. Supervises the AVENGER/MANPADS team/ squad. Writes and handles JINTACCS messages. Prepares for and supervises section movement. Supervises radio and wire communications. Plans for and supervises ammunition resupply. Deploys section to provide Air Defense coverage. Assists in establishing operating tactical command posts and operating centers. Coordinates operations and intelligence data, Supervises dissemination of air and ground early warning information on MCS. Assists update of OPORD, situation maps and overlays. Supervises ECM and ECCM operations. Supervises installation and operations of tactical communication equipment and battle drills. Employs weapon systems. Supervises PMCS.
(4) Skill Level 4. Supervises AVENGER/MANPADS operations. Performs or supervises ADA operations and intelligence duties. Assists platoon leader in planning, management and training activities of subordinate sections. Performs and supervises ADA battle management center operations. Conducts platoon reconnaissance, selection and occupation of position (RSOP). Coordinates platoon and section logistical activities.
Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS. AVENGER crewmembers must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 111121.
(3) Minimum height of 64 inches,
(4) Distance vision correctable to 20/20 without multifocal lenses.
(5) Normal color vision.
(6) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area of OF.
(7) A Security Clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.
(8) Formal training (completion of MOS 14S course conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army ADA School) mandatory.
(9) A U.S. citizen.
NOTE: This job is closed to women.
Additional skill identifiers.
(1) P5--Master Fitness Trainer.
(2) Y2--Transition (personnel only).
(3) 2S-Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 and above).
(4) 4A--Reclassification Training.
Training/School Information
Initial Training Overview: Job training for an Avenger Crewmember consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, and ten weeks of training at Fort Bliss, Texas. Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions.
Additional Training Information: Specific formal training opportunities for this MOS, including advanced training courses available at specific points of the soldier's career, can be found on the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS) Web Site.
Restrictions: During Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Army limits a soldier's personal freedom, using a "Phase System," which grants increased freedom, based upon phase of training. For details, see Army Training Phase Restrictions.
Training Details: Course is designed to give training in Air Defense Artillery SHORAD that includes driver's certification, visual aircraft recognition, armored vehicle recognition, hull systems, operation of the BSFV and Linebacker, operation, maintenance and engagement of the Stinger Weapon System (MANPADS), loader and driver specific duties, communications, operate the vehicle in a NBC environment, Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on the BSFV and Linebacker. Other subjects covered include: Operating technologies specific to the Bradley Linebacker, operating gun, missile and rocket launching systems specific to the Bradley Linebacker, artillery tactics and battle strategy, map reading, and scouting techniques.
