| | Ellsworth AFB, from December 2000 to August 2003. At the time, it felt like I'd never leave, so I got out of the Air Force and came back in after getting Scott. Of course now, I've been at Andersen AFB since June 2006, and as of April, Guam will have been my longest assignment.
Never go to Guam. It seems nice at first, but leadership is determined to ensure that you only achieve a certain maximum level of happiness before they beat you back down.

| | Nellis AFB, Las Vegas was my first base. I loved the area. So much to do there.
| | Pease AFB, New Hampshire. I loved going to the NH, Mass, and Maine beaches and watching the Red Sox play at Fenway! The New Hampshire winters? Not so much. They were too cold and snowy for me.

| | Well, first Duty Station after basic and Tech School was Dyess AFB in TX. Was there from Sept. 1978 to Nov. 1981. Was in Aircraft Maint. at first on the B-52D working on the bombing computers and Radar system. All in all it was a good tour, just a long time at a base that was so far from the bigger towns. Some of the ice storms that we had during my time there were pretty harsh.

| | Scott A.F.B. Il. Liked the base and of course St. Louis was just up the road. Quiet area out in the corn fields.........Kinda like McGuire A.F.B. N.J.!

| | Charleston AFB 82-84. Great place to be stationed period. Still have a couple friends I stay in touch with.

| | My first duty station was in 1993 was RAF Mildenhall before the gated up and secured the dorms and clubs. As a single airman I had a blast the job was easy lots to see and do and made so many friends. I really hated to go and still to this day it is my favorite duty assignment. definitely better than the politically corrupt Scott AFB. Yuck!

| | Ellsworth AFB November 2005 - February 2007
If you love hunting and fishing, then it's an amazing place to be! it does snow more often then not, but after awhile you just climatize and get used to it. i would like to go back someday to finish up my career.

| | My first duty station was Scott AFB, and I'm still stuck here.
| | Robins AFB was my first duty station. Hated it at first, but learned to love it. I'm at Grand Forks now. It's too MF cold up here. I can't wait to get out of here!!
| | Edwards AFB. Loved it there.
| | Oh and was there from 1967 to 1970, Then went back from 1973 to 1974...
| | My first duty station was at Webb AFB, Big Spring, Texas. Webb was a pilot training base. It is now a federal prison. Figures.
| | First assignment was Minot AFB. Hated it! I did meet some great people though, friends I still keep in touch with today after 12 years of leaving. I've always been a city person, Minot hardly qualified as a city to me.

| | Robins AFB working in the JSTARS unit. I hated it.
| | Kalkar Air Station, West Germany (1984-1985). Fantastic assignment. Most have never heard of it. And it's still open! It's a tiny, little base whose mission has changed over the years.

| | After training at Keesler AFB, MS I was assigned to Clark AB, Philippines with TDY's to Korea. I was in the 5th TAC and it was a TDY unit to Korea and Viet Nam. I would NOT recommend it. I was there from 1967 to 1969.

| | Mine was Ft. Bragg (3-82 GSAB) then on to Ft. Drum (3-10 GSAB) Ft. Drum is actually a nice post, it's just in a bad place with lots of snow. Oh and Watertown, NY is NOT the most cosmopolitan city around either...

| | After basic at Lackland AFB BMTS 3708 and Greenville AFB Tech School was assigned to USAFSS, 6960 Support Group, Kelly AFB (all in 1961). Other than Lackland , most of my base assignments have been disestablished (both in Air Force and Navy) which is really a sad thing.
